Scratch, or scratching, is a musical technique that consists of "scratching" the sound. Performed on a vinyl record moving back and forth to change the playback speed, this process allows you to change the tone of the sound to get a very special sound. Increasing the speed of movement produces a higher pitch than the original sound, while a slower movement produces a louder sound. This musical practice in its own right has transformed technical tools (a turntable and a mixer) into real instruments.
